I am Kika.  That's QUEEN Kika!  I rule the house no matter what those peasant rodents might tell you.  I have servants to open the door when I want in or out and to feed me and groom me and all I have to do is sit around and be beautiful.  It wasn't always like this.  I use to live across the street, back in the woods with another family.  One day I woke up and they were gone leaving me and my little son to fend  ousrelves.  One of the neighbor ladies fed me but there were too many other cats so I decided to move.  There was this older farm house across the street and I could hear MICE under it!  So I picked up my son and moved in.  It wasn't long before The woman who lived there noticed.  She heard my son crying and came to investigate.  She soon brought us food.  I was very wary at first but she soon convinced me that all was okay.  I allowed her to bring me and my son into the house.  We repayed her kindness by ridding her house of the mice.
This is Roca my palace guard.  She does a good job, considering she's ONLY a dog.
The creatures in here would be a lot more entertaining if they weren't in (shudder) WATER.  (One DOES so HATE wet paws)

I'm Sorry to say that both Kika (18) and Roca(17) have gone to the Rainbow Bridge.
Although we have not been able to find a cat suitable to have in the house with prairie dogs we did adopt a wonderful pup (then 8 months old) from the Tacoma Pierce County Humane Society.  I will leave a part of Kika's story on this page and then tell you something about Tara.
MEET TARA
This is the first pic I took of Tara. when we brought her home on 11/27/05.  She was a little scared at first but soon settled in.

Tara has proven to be avery good pup.  She's calm, intelligent and very caring of her family.  So far she only barks when there's a real reason to be barking; like someone she doesn't know shows up or there's a strange animal in the pasture.  She stops barking when told to.
She's very good with the prairie dogs.  She will wash them if given a chance.  Lily objects and tells her to keep her tongue to herself.  The next picture shows her with her favorite pd, Gabby.
Just after this picture was taken Tara started washing Gabby.  The one thing we were worried about was how she would react when she met the pds.  What would happen if one or more of them managed to escape from the room (It happens once in awhile.  Pds are very clever at finding ways to escape.).
In Feburary Gabby did manage to escape.  My sister, Fran and I were in the livingroom both using our computers and chatting.  I turned around to answer a question when I spotted  Tara gently patting someting on the floor.  It took me a few seconds to realise it was one of the girls.
Gabby wasn't the least bit upset but she was a bit damp from Tara washing her.

This is Tara playing with her best doggie friend, Rodney.  Since, according to the information we had, Tara had been an only child we felt she needed socialising.  Our good friends the Shaws have a wonderful, gentle Rottwielier.  They bring him over and the two dogs have great fun playing together.  Mike and my husband, Bob are watching the two dogs play.

Tara loves being silly and often rolls around on the floor.
